Bags or boxes for your cookies?

Most bakers end up using both. The choice comes down to how many cookies go in, how far they travel and how the buyer opens them.

Cellophane Bags printed with a custom design

Pick a bag when

  • You sell one cookie or a short stack at the counter
  • The cookie is decorated and buyers want to see it
  • You need a low cost per piece for markets and favors
  • The bag goes home in a hand or a tote, not a mail truck
Cookie Boxes with Dividers printed with a custom design

Pick a box when

  • You sell a half dozen, a dozen or a mixed set
  • Cookies ship, or ride in a car to an event
  • Soft or iced cookies need walls so they do not touch
  • The order is a gift and opening it should feel special

Still deciding on the bag side? Our guide to clear and paper cookie bags compares both in detail.

Seasonal orders pile up fast. Order printed packaging at least three to four weeks before the date. That covers the proof, 4–6 business days of production and 2–3 business days in transit.

Which bag size fits your cookie?

Measure the widest cookie in the batch. Add about 1 inch to the width and 2 inches to the length for the fold or the tie. The table shows where most bakers start.

Made for bakers who sell

Our customers bake at home, run cafes, sell at weekend markets and fill company gift orders. Each one needs packaging that keeps cookies fresh, shows off the work and carries a name people remember.

We only print bags and boxes for cookies and baked treats. That focus lets us talk sizes, grease, icing and shipping with you in plain terms.

Just starting out? Read how to package cookies for sale before your first order.

A custom cookie bag is a small printed bag sized to your cookie and carrying your logo. It replaces the plain stock bag and the hand-stamped label.

Most bakers use cookie bags for single cookies, short stacks and party favors. Boxes take over when the order is a gift set, a dozen or a shipment.

Every bag we print is made to order. You pick the style, the size and the print, and you see a free digital proof first. Browse each style in our range of printed cookie and bakery bags.

Cookie bags come in six common types. Each one solves a different problem at the counter or on the shelf.

Paper hides crumbs and feels handmade. Film and pouches show the cookie and hold freshness longer. See how the clear option is built on our printed clear cellophane treat bags page.

Measure the widest cookie after it is decorated. Add about 1 inch to the width and 1.5 to 2 inches to the height for the fold or seal.

A 3 inch cookie usually fits a 4 x 6 inch flat bag. A 4 inch cookie needs about 5 x 7 inches. A stack of four stands best in a gusseted bag with a 2 to 3 inch base.

Extra room lets cookies slide and chip. Too little crushes icing at the edges. Our cookie bag size charts and measuring tips cover singles, stacks and minis.

Paper, film and barrier pouch materials

Kraft paper suits rustic brands and dry cookies like shortbread. White paper gives truer color for bright logos.

Butter-heavy and chocolate chip cookies need grease-resistant lined paper. Without it, oil spots show before the bag leaves the counter.

Clear OPP film keeps air out better than paper and shows the decoration. Zipper and metallized pouches suit cookies that wait on a shelf or travel by mail, like our resealable mylar pouches for cookies.

Need food-contact grade paper or film? It is available on request, so mention what the bag will hold and how long it sits.

A cookie bag has a small face, so the print has to read at arm's length. Keep the logo in the upper third and leave the fold line free of small text.

You can test colors and logo position in our online bag and box designer, then our team sends a free proof.

  • Full color CMYK for illustrated labels and photos
  • Pantone spot colors to hold an exact brand color
  • White ink on kraft so light logos still show
  • Matte or gloss lamination on paper bags
  • Foil stamping and spot UV for gift and holiday runs

Cookie bags suit any seller who hands cookies over one at a time or in small packs. Many first orders come from sellers who have outgrown stickers on plain bags.

Prices start from $0.30 per unit and depend on size, material, quantity and finish. Send your cookie size and artwork through our quick cookie bag quote form to get options.

Custom cookie bag questions

What is the starting price for custom cookie bags?

Pricing on cookie bags begins at $0.30 a bag. The figure on your quote reflects your chosen size, stock, run length and finish.

Which cookie bag is best for decorated sugar cookies?

A clear cellophane (OPP) bag with a self seal strip or a twist tie. It shows the icing, as long as the royal icing is fully dry before bagging.

Do I need a grease-resistant cookie bag?

Yes, for buttery, chocolate chip or warm cookies. Dry cookies such as biscotti and shortbread are fine in unlined kraft or white paper.

How do I pick the right cookie bag size?

Measure the widest cookie after decorating and add about 1 inch to the width and 1.5 to 2 inches to the height. If you are unsure, send a photo of the cookie next to a ruler.

Can you print a logo on clear cellophane bags?

Yes. Dark, bold colors read best on clear film, and a logo near the top or bottom keeps the cookie in view.

Can customers reseal the bags?

Stand-up and flat pouches have a zipper that opens and closes. Cello bags close with a twist tie or a self seal strip instead.

Do you make paper cookie bags with a window?

Yes. Kraft and white paper bags can have a clear window where the cookie sits, and you check its position on the proof.

Can I order two bag sizes with the same design?

Yes. Many bakers order a single-cookie bag and a stack bag with matching print. List each size in your quote request.

How long until my cookie bags arrive?

Count 4 to 6 business days of printing from your proof sign-off, plus 2 to 3 business days on the road. Delivery costs nothing to the US, UK, Canada or Australia.

Are the bags suitable for direct food contact?

We can supply food-contact grade paper and film on request. Describe the cookie and how it will be stored, and we match a stock to it.

What happens if my bags arrive misprinted?

Email photos of the faulty bags within 10 days of delivery. Bags that are misprinted or damaged get a fresh print run or your money back.

Do you also make cookie boxes?

Yes. We print paperboard cookie boxes with windows, dividers and inserts, plus corrugated mailers for shipping cookies.
